[AUDIO: Eddie's a little more quick and to the point this time, efficient without being impatient.]

I'm looking to find out who's presently working in the laboratory with some kind of project. Inmates and wardens both, though I understand that inmates need to be supervised by wardens. I'm not trying to cheat any rules. I want to get a feel for what everyone is studying in order to begin research on something else entirely, with the permission of my warden. He's been encouraging me to ask questions about the things I care about.

[Private to George]
Are you free this week for that date with Wichita?

[Private to Eddie Russet]
Would you have any interest in supervising me for a project in the lab starting at only one day per week with George's approval?

[Private to Martha]
I'm interested in working in the infirmary. George told me that he talked with you already about my getting started. I have no experience beyond some basic first aid and reading up on anatomy and some EMT materials, but I learn fast and I can work whatever hours you need.

It's something called patience. You may not be familiar with it. You'll run out of things to do on the barge sooner or later. Then you'll get to play the waiting game with everyone else.

[Pause.] Did you actually look that up? Or more importantly, did you actually wonder about that completely unimportant trivia?

I can be patient when I need to be, but patience was something created to cope with dealing with other people. If you're doing something yourself or working in a situation where you don't need those other people if you weren't lazy and couple just pick up the slack yourself, there's no reason not to do that. Then you don't need patience. You need motivation, determination, and maybe some 5 Hour Energy, depending on the day. I'll never run out of things to do because there are always more things to learn and new hobbies to acquire. Between the CES, the lab, and the ports and floods, there's really no reason for anyone to be bored ever unless they're waiting on someone else. There seem to be enough wardens here that can accomodate even if your warden is busy, though, so I really can't imagine what you could be waiting for without taking any measures to do something else.

I looked it up to make a point to someone back home a few months back and I have a good memory.

What are you a doctor of, if I can ask?

I'm a psychiatrist. Out of interest, have you ever consulted one before? Because you seem somewhat unusual.

No, I haven't. Would you like to be my first, Doctor Crane?

I'm afraid that the wardens wouldn't allow it.

First session's free, right? I won't tell them if you won't.

I would have to get you to sign a waiver.

If I can read the small print, sure. But honestly, I doubt it would hold much sway here when there's no real legal basis for dealing with punishments and I could easily claim that you had threatened me to sign it if I wanted and then it's your word against mine in the same way it would be if I didn't. The better thing to do would probably be to have a recording on my communicator of my consenting with you mulling around in the background to prove there's no threat possible. I wouldn't mind giving you a private copy, but if you released it for public consumption, then we might have a problem.

I don't intend to release anything publicly and I don't imagine that it would hold any real sway. But I feel that if you really want to enter into something like this, I ought to have a document that states exactly what we agree to.

Sure. You draft something up and we'll go from there.

Take your time, Doctor. If what I hear is true, then neither of us are going anywhere for awhile and there's always plenty of time to kill on the Barge.

More time than you can possibly imagine. I'll get started soon enough.
